Quandary Time

The BRR ride is this weekend. Here's the weather forecast:unbelievable, considering it's February. But, here's the problem: how big of a tool do I look like bringing two bikes to the ride? I would like to ride the fixie, but if it's snow-packed I might go with my mountain bike. I don't know anybody in Iowa near the ride, besides does the average person note road conditions like a cyclist? I'll bring a camera to record the misdemeanors.

Workin' It

I've been busy, working on prototypes for LBL.
Here is the original CiTy BiLLy cycle logo: the 666 seems to get under some people's skin, which is a big plus for me. For the good folks that are planning on riding LBL: please let me know as soon as you can. I want to make this ride as special as the magnificent job that eDBiLLy, OttOBiLLy, MeGBiLLy & MiMiBiLLy (with help from eDMaLcOLm) did on Schnoctobeerfest. However, the casa de eDLoNNiE is small, so the more heads up time that I have to make arrangements, the better.

Kings of Leon

One of my favorite newer bands is "Kings of Leon". Here they are, performing "Arizona". Warning: this song could stick in your head for days.

Good Luck KeRNeL!

I just wanted to post a greeting to fellow BiLLy, the KeRNeL. He has surgery on his wrist tomorrow, due to a cycling related accident. Update: KeRNeL's surgery went well.

High Life

The ad firm Errol Morris did a set of TV spots for Miller- this one was one of my favorites.

Down Goes KeRNeL!

Fellow BiLLy, the KeRNeL, hit some ice & crashed hard over the weekend. He broke & dislocated his wrist (I'm not sure if it was his drinking hand). Details are sketchy at the moment, but here at CiTy BiLLy cycle, through the wonder of modern technology, we were able to recreate his ER visit. More details on the CiTy BiLLy North site. KeRNeL assures me that he'll be back in top form for LBL!

LBL Logo

Here's a sneak peek at the logo that will adorn whatever garment that's issued at LBL. T-shirt, hoodie, work shirt, hip waders, the list is slowly getting whittled down. Entry fee will be $10, just like Schnoctobeerfest, but two things will be different: 1) you'll have to sign a waiver (written up by our crack legal team, Leinenkugel & Latrobe) and 2)you don't have to bring a six of beer (eDLoNNiE will provide the beer (it will be unusual)).

LBL Schwag Preview

Here's a prototype of one of the commemorative CiTy BiLLy cycle items you'll receive on LBL. Excuse my cracked up fingers: I spent this afternoon rerouting the brake cables on my single speed: it's now ready for the BRR ride. Now, if it were that simple to get myself ready.

New Year, New Mindset

Happy New Year! Today I sent in the registration for the BRR ride. eDBiLLy & I have done this ride twice. The first time, there had been a snowstorm the day before. The drive to Perry (around 160 miles) looked like a semi graveyard: there were trucks off the road everywhere. We only ended up riding about 9 miles, because we were not prepared for the blizzard like conditions (6 degrees with a howling wind, blowing snow everywhere). The second time, Sam went with us. The temperature was in the fifties, & the 23 miles turned into a hammerfest. We stopped in Rippey just long enough for some High Life, but the ride time was barely over an hour, & then it was time to pile back in to the xB & drive for three hours. I hope this year's ride is somewhere in between our previous two. Only time will tell. I'll bring a camera, because downtown Perry turns into a giant beer garden (ala RAGBRAI).
